carolinawrenbabyIt is not uncommon for some birds to fledge on the ground – even though we might be horrified at the thought! That baby bird you found might have its mother nearby.

When you see a baby bird, watch it for a while from a distance before attempting to intervene. It may be that the mother is tending to it. Only react if the baby seems in distress or injured.

If you feel that you have to help out, follow the guidelines on the attached page (courtesy of Healers of the Wild: People Who Care), and bring the baby bird to a wildlife rehabilitator.
